Hale Park Totem Pole

Discovered yesterday (Saturday 14th) lying on the ground was the totem pole that was erected in Hale Park. It`s not sure if the reason for it lying on the ground is an act of vandalism or simply nature taking it`s course such as rotting, pests from within side of it or strong winds.

Upon closer inspection, it does appear to have been cleanly sawn straight off!!

Two motor bikes were heard scrambling around Hale Park for some time, on the day the totem pole was discovered lying on the ground. The motor bikes then made an exit and went up Hale High Street.

Potatoe Harvesting Along Hale Shore

For the past several days Webbs of Manor Farm in the village have commenced harvesting potatoes down the shore, the field that has been started is located on the left of the Lighthouse lane leading to Hale shore.

After the last few days of heavy rain, the land has become very muddy in places and the harvesting was stopped. Before the rain arrived a small stock-pile of potatoes were harvested and tipped on the floor in one of the farm sheds to dry out. Once dried out, the farm workers were able to grade them, and bag them up for the local potato merchant.

During today (Thursday 12th October) the weather was fine and sunny which made for a good days harvesting,, work commenced at 8am and ended at 7pm/19.00hrs.
The above photographs have been taken by Mr V.G Philips of Hale Village.

Autumn High tides

The time is here where high tides are a current spectacle along the Hale shoreline of the River Mersey.

Today`s (08/10/06) high tide was around 9 meters compared to previous tides of 10 meters or more.

Some of the low-lying fields by the Lady-Pool always get flooded when there is a high tide, as can be seen here below.

The evidence of today`s (08/10/06) high tide is everywhere, lots of rubbish washed up along the shoreline and all sorts of items left behind in the Lady-Pool.
