War Memorial Accident

A local resident was tending their garden Saturday morning (23.02.08) at 9am, only to be startled and shocked by a loud crunch, of what appeared to be a car travelling too fast around the war memorial, smashing into an 18th century wall less than one meter from their front window.

While taking the photographs an hour after the accident, the middle photo below, shows a guy in his 4×4, on his mobile phone, trying to steer around the memorial island right in-front of the skid marks that lead to the damage of the earlier crash!?

Not only has the wall been damaged but the driver drove off, leaving an iron fence buckled and a near by gate un lockable for the persons own private/home security.

This is the second incident by the War Memorial in 5 days, were two villagers witnessed a car travelling on the wrong side of the memorial island in the Liverpool direction, where another local resident,  had to slam on their brakes to avoid a collision opposite the Post Office/Park Entrance.  This incident on Monday 21st of February  at 12.05 is one of may where villagers have witnessed motorists not following the current road markings correctly, even though the flow of traffic is clearly marked out on the road.

More Fly-tipping Down Withins Way

Further fly Tipping attempts have been noted recently down Withins Way, mostly out of site at the “S” bend leading onto the cobble track and also a small amount of rubble tipped in Dave Harrisons field next to the Horse Catch track..

Hale Estates, Bill Webb and Halton Borough Council are in the process of finalising plans and location of a new gate/turn-style which will prevent unwanted vehicles accessing Withins Way, although it is expected, pedestrian/walking access will be allowed.

New Benches Along Shore Path

Several new benches ave now been installed, in place of the older ones that have been in a bad state for some time.

The new benches are located a few hundred meters either side of the Lighthouse along the shore path, with a further bench nearer the Target Field is, by the field drain which runs into the reed bed not far from the end of Withins Way.

These benches give walkers an opportunity to take a break and site down during their walk, at the same time, taking in some of the grate views of the Welsh Mountains west of the village and also for those who follow wildlife to watch the various species of birds on the mud flats along Hale Shore.

Vandalism 7th February

During Thursday (07/02/08) evening, numerous acts of vandalism were carried out around Hale Village by local youths.  Two areas that appear to attract these local village idiots in black attire, are the Village Hall and the rear of the shops-Ivy Farm Court.

Below, photographs of vandalism around the Village Hall!

Noted items that had been vandalised during Thursday evening were the Liverpool bound bus stop sign/pole, which has been pulled up out of the pavement and thrown into Hemmings Wood near the park entrance, also,, a cottages wooden fence has been pulled apart next to the village hall entrance.

Below, photographs of the Liverpool bound bus stop sign/pole in the wood, along with further damage to a locals fence on the historic High Street!

Four youths in black were observed by a local villager (who contacted this website) making for the rear of the shops, were upon it appeared the youths were banging and knocking on the rear of the garage doors, possibly either trying to gain entry or just another act of mindless vandalism..

Do their parents/guardians actually care, or do they condone their children’s behaviour!?

“Condone”
This means to overlook or forgive bad behaviour, or to treat it as unimportant.
