Storm Damage

The morning of Thursday 13th March around Hale, revealed various locations that had been subjected to some form of storm damage from the high winds during Wednesday night into Thursday morning. One location that is used on a daily basis,, was the school access path for Hale School opposite Ivy Farm Court..  One of the old popular trees, originally planted by the Ireland Blackburne’s,, succumbed to the high winds, leaving the school path completely blocked for the children to get to school..

Another location, not too fat away, was opposite the War Memorial, otherwise known to some as Mrs Allans house,, where the fence had been blown down leaving the garden area on show to those walking past during the morning.

The strong winds where still evedent for most of the day, but not as strong through the night, although they did subside late afternoon.  Shown below,  you can see how the River Mersey at Hale Head/Lighthouse faired for part of the day, with the winds whipping up the waves on the river.

High Tide On Hale Marsh

The 10th March saw another high tide on the river Mersey, along the shoreline of Hale.  Below we have a number of photographs taken around 13.30 in the afternoon, of the marsh area along Hale Road overlooking Hale Duck Decoy.  In some places along the footpath,, the tide was not far off from seeping over on to the path and the road.

The ancient brook, that runs from Old Hutte-Ramsbrook Lane-Carr Lane and to the stone bridge over Hale Road, was fully flooded, even partly flooding fields being farmed by Philip Lunt and Billy Webb.

Hale Duck Decoy was also surrounded by the high tide over the marsh..
