After many years of Withins Way being open accessto the public and their cars, a new gate has been fittedacross the lane, stopping such access. For a long time, the lane has been blighted by fly-ipping and quad bikes tresspassing on farm land, thus making the lane untidy. Bill Webb, Hale EsTates and Halton Borough
Council have been working to gether to design a gate that would allow access to the lane, for alkers only and to stop unwanted fly-tipping and quad bikes gaining access to the fields, the end result is the new gate that has been recently erected just past the entrence to Manor Farm at the start of the lane.
Unlike the gates at the top of the Lighthouse Lane, were you need to physically open the gate,, the one in Withins Way has been designed were people can walk around via a purpose built parapit on the right and the allowence of letting horses through has been catered for, by lowering the center of the gate . Further work is still being under-taken by the junction of Church Road and Withins Way, with the erection of new signs, indicating that the ancient lane is now closed to cars and public transport.
Only farm veichles and Halton Borough Council are now permitted to use the lane.
