Lunacy on the roads of Hale

At last weeks Parish Council meeting,, several ladies from near Baileys Lane attended the meeting,, they were vocal and very rightly so.  One lady explained that she and her child were nearly killed in a road accident involving a speeding motorist and that her child was unwell afterwards-shaking with shock at their near miss!.  The same lady,, attended, (if I remember right) a CAT meeting well over 8/12 months ago voicing her concerns over madcap road users speeding in her area of Baileys Lane and that an accident was sure to happen.    Between then and now,, the situation is still the same, were apathy rules on the roads of Hale Village and Baileys Lane/Hale Road, only today (22nd May) at 2.30pm on Town Lane myself and a local village lady-Mrs Grace, witnessed two speeding vehicles go the wrong way round the War Memorial at high speed, one was a yellow and black ford transit tipper with a trailer on the back followed by a People Carrier Taxi which had taxi plates on it.  We witnessed both vehicles motoring up Town Lane at speed and go around the monument on the right-hand side over the white Chevron markings near the Post Office.  They were going that fast,, all we saw was a cloud of dust by the Hale Village sign on the green/memorial.  These arseholes completely ignored the fact that they were in a school crossing zone clearly marked up with signs and flashing beacons.. If they had come through 20/30 minutes later,, children would have been crossing from Hale School around 3pm!?

Those who are in the area of Town Lane and the High Street on a daily basis,, often witness speeding and Dukes of Hazard style driving.  With little or no deterrent on the roads in Hale or by Baileys Lane,, madcap motorists are free to drive how they like through Hale L24.

Recent incidents include an accident on the War Memorial, an accident involving a skip on the High Street, an accident on Hale Road near Baileys Lane and motorists driving around the memorial on the wrong side..

The worst locations for speeding appear to be near Baileys Lane, down Hale Road into the village routing through the High Street and Town Lane..

Bring back Geoff Grimmes and Mrs Boydell!?….

Hale Carnivals Final Preparations

Sunday night, (11th May) saw committed members of Hale Carnival committee putting their final touches to what appears to be another great carnival for the village of Hale.  Hale Carnival is now in it’s 57th year and this year will be no different, with the current carnival committee committed to providing a full Saturdays time table of events for everyone to enjoy, the carnival goes from strength to strength.

An upbeat meeting lasting for well over 90 minutes (in the Child Of Hale Pubs meeting room), saw the carnival committee of local villagers finalise this years plans for the carnival in Hale Park on Saturday June 14th, from various attractions such as a fun fair, to local companies taking part and the ever popular arena events.

Also, as well as the park events,, Hale Village Hall will be part of the carnival as usual, with the Coffee Shop in operation which will include a display by Laurie Morgan, of old village photographs some of which are 100 years old showing various scenes of village life and village landmarks from days gone by.
