The last few days has seen several incidents of bad driving in the village(now there’s nothing new?), on the main roads, Ramsbrook/Hale Road and High Street!
Below are several images of village greenery and street furnishings being damaged by seriously bad drivers. The first 3 images in the photo-grid show whats left of the hedge infront of Hemmings Wood next to the Liverpool bound bus stop,, after a drunk driver lost the plot and,, control of their motor vehicle
The last 3 images show whats left of the steel/metal railings/crash barrier at the junction of Hale Road-Ramsbrook Lane, after a vehicle crashed into it! This area is on a particular sharp “S” bend,, surley the common sense of the driver should have told them to slow down, or are they totally daft!?

Just thinking of the crash by the bus stop turns me cold – there are always people waiting there and walking towards the park – perhaps it’s time to look at speed ramps.

Can’t remember if there are any plans to have speed humps from the roadside down past the two gates in the park grant. I think some form of bollards need to be in place to protect the pavement area were people walk on either side of the main entrance, like the ones in Hale Bank, just before the Mersey View Pub on the left..

I dont remember anything like that on the plans but pavement bollards are much safer than fencing (look at the pics).
Speed ramps dont have to be expensive – the most effective ones can be purchased for as little as £200.00 with planning permission – what price a life. Speed cameras cost £72k without installation. The village needs to be balloted on where we go from here
