Tipped Up Planter
The 3 planters that are in front of the shops, seem to have escaped any form of vandalism for at least over 18 months now, that is apart from Tuesday night, when one of them was tipped up.

Wednesday morning presented villagers with an up-turned planter on the pavement in front of the shops.

Macmillan Coffee Morning
Local villagers attended a fundraising Coffee Morning, on Friday 25th September, in Hale Village Hall from 10.30am till 12 noon. The Coffee morning was in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support-The Worlds Biggest Coffee Morning
There was plenty to do, eat, and drink, from a nice cup of tea or coffee, to home made cakes and scones for people to buy. There were two raffles, one for a lovely flower arrangement and the other raffle for some nice prizes.

During the Coffee Morning-in aid of Macmillan Cancer Research, those who were on duty could be seen mingling with their friends from the village, serving tea and coffee along with selling the raffle tickets, everyone chatted about this that and the other and a lovely village atmosphere and friendship shone through. At the end of the morning Gwen Whittle who had organised the Coffee Morning drew the raffle tickets, at the end, she thanked everyone for attending.
Well done Gwen!

Baileys Lane Gates
The proposed new gates have now been erected, at either end of Baileys Lane. They are of the same design and construction as of the gate on Withins Way.
The gates have been erected at either end of Bailyes Lane, to prevent various aspects of nuisance, from speeding vehicles, fly-tipping, along with quad-bikes and 4×4’s.

While I was there a chap was overseeing a fire that had been started, allegedly by kids, in a pile of loose straw. He had already phoned the fire brigade, for whom arrived several minutes after myself to extinguish the small fire.
They said they had not been pre-warned/advised about the new gates and therefore had to turn around at the far end of the lane where the other gate is-near the threshold of runway 2.7 and make their way around into the other access point of Baileys Lane.

Through The Barricades
A local villager who lovingly cares for and funds out of his own pocket the now new football pitch, on the old site, of the now defunked Hale Cricket Club, is having to resort to erecting man made barricades to keep out motorbikes and quad-bikes from tearing up his hard work.
The village website caught with the local chap on Friday 11th and Saturday 12th of September, while he was attending to the football pitch he has spent several years now maintaining and marking out for local kids to play football on. During Saturday morning I caught up with him while he was marking out the pitch and he explained the efforts he had put in to keeping the pitch in good order, along with the man made barricades he has had to erect to prevent his work from being ruined by joyriders on motorbikes and quad-bikes accessing the land.
Below you can see in the photo-grid the man-made barricade that’s now been erected to prevent further damage being caused to the land in general which now accommodates a football pitch. You can see the old cricket side screen on it’s side, in a gap in the fencing along with broken branches off trees dragged into gaps and a new barbed wire fence he has paid for out of his own pocket- for which has been cut in several places on purpose by people trying to gain access to estate land. He said he is not trying to keep the dog walkers off as they are kind enough and considerate to pick litter up around the site, but he is trying to prevent further damge to the site from quads and bikes etc!

Some clowns around Hale?
I thought clowns where only restricted to speeding up and down the High Street in their vehicles, on motorbikes or not picking their dogs excrement up… But surprisingly,, I bumped into this well mannered colourful chap on the High Street on Saturday (12th September), looking for his coat in his car.
He was doing a kids party in the Village Hall…..
